MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging
We value your time just as much as your health. To help your visit to Core Radiology run seamlessly, here are a few quick things to keep in mind before you arrive.
We know that needing an MRI scan can sometimes be a bit stressful, especially if you experience claustrophobia. That is why we focus on the things that actually matter to our South Australian community. From offering clear fee transparency and checking your Medicare eligibility, to simply taking the time to listen to your concerns, play your favourite music, and keep you completely relaxed during the scan. We’re proud to offer top-tier, compassionate MRI services that are Built for Australians.
The Core Difference
About Having a MRI
A highly advanced scan that uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves rather than radiation to produce incredibly detailed images of soft tissues, the brain, the spine, and joints.
What is an MRI?
Please note that Australian Medicare rules for MRI can be complex. Eligibility for Bulk Billing or a Medicare rebate heavily depends on the specific scan requested and whether your referral is from a GP or a Specialist. Please contact our team with your referral handy, and we will gladly check your eligibility and provide a clear fee estimate.
Medicare Rebates for MRI
You will lie still on a comfortable bed that slides into a brightly lit, open-ended tunnel. The machine makes loud knocking noises, so we will provide headphones with music to keep you relaxed.
How is it performed?
How long does it take?
Depending on the area, between 20 and 45 minutes.
STRICT SAFETY & METALLIC IMPLANTS:
Because the MRI magnet is exceptionally powerful, safety is our absolute priority. You must inform us immediately if you have:
A pacemaker or defibrillator
A cochlear (ear) implant
Aneurysm clips in your brain
Neurostimulators
Any history of metal fragments in your eyes (e.g., from welding)
If you experience claustrophobia, please let our team know when booking. We will take extra time to support you, explain the process, and ensure you feel in control.

We always recommend booking a follow-up appointment with your doctor to discuss your results and the next steps in your care.
