The Core Difference

About Having a Bone Density & DEXA Scan

A fast, low-dose X-ray (DEXA) used to accurately measure the density and strength of your bones. It is the gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis and assessing your risk of bone fractures

What is a Bone Density Scan?

You will simply lie flat on a comfortable, padded table. An imaging arm will slowly pass over your body to take the measurements. You will not be enclosed in a tunnel.

How is it performed?

How long does it take?

Around 10 to 20 minutes.

Please inform us if you have had a Barium meal/enema or an injection of contrast dye for a CT or MRI scan within the last 7 days, as this can interfere with your bone density results.
